Virginia Rose is still with us. Every morning and every evening my parents call from her nursing home with an update. So far, it's been a roller coaster. Actually, the nurses say they have never seen anything like it. Like I said before, she's been having complications with the feeding tube, finally removed it, and were not able to replace it. Seven days later she is still with us!
No one in my family knows much about this processes, so the nurse's interpretation of the signs is all that we can rely on. She was having blood and then dried blood in her catheter, a sign that the kidneys are shutting down, but the fluid is clear again. The nurses have no idea what's going on! They also said that most people in her situation have passed away with in a few short days, and on the rare side, live up to ten days.
For whatever reason, the Good Lord has her on this earth a little longer and with little explanation from science.
My parents have decided to stay down there through the end, which is absolutely incredible since my dad's job is now on the line. My parents, aunts, and uncles spend long shifts at the hospital, but they want Nana to know just how much she is loved :)
