Last week Eric went down to the new Taco Mac @ Prado grand opening. He and I both read the Taco Mac blog regularly, so he knew about some specials they were offering. However, when he got there, they were not offering the specials so he asked the bartender. Long story short, not only did Eric get his tab picked up for calling them out on not following through with the blog promises, but he also got invited to the new "Fred's Bar" below Taco Mac.
The next day we went to "Fred's Bar" which is located in the basement. You have to enter through the service entrance by pressing a red button. Once inside you have to show your Taco Mac membership and they have to verify that you've drank a certain number of beers there.
The bar hadn't even had it's grand opening, or announcement of it's opening on the Taco Mac blog or website. But we got in & they were serving people. There were maybe 25 people there.
Complete with leather booths, executive chairs, and wood ceilings - "Fred's Bar" is everything you'd imagine a 1930s bar to be. The menu was created by the head chef of Tappan Street Restaurant Group. They only serve top shelf liquor, and an exclusive wine list. And the beer list....
the beer list...
INCREDIBLE. Eric and I have never seen a beer list like it and we've been to some of the top beer bars in the world. Basically they will only serve rare beers. The prices start at $6 and go to $15 a glass, so you can only imagine the quality and rarity.
So yeah, I am IN LOVE with this place!!!! We will be going as often as our budget allows :)
